Mark Ward & Luke Geldert, company Founders/Owners, opened the first all Hip Hop Dance Studio in Edmonton.
The company was named 3rd Street Beat to recognize the 3rd person in the partnership who inspired Mark and Luke to create a Hip Hop business: Lori Todd.
They started with one class and 7 students out of a school called St. Kevin’s.

The studio transitioned into a competitive dance company; Kerry Koble was hired as the first Instructor along with Mark and Luke and the first professional crew 3SB was created to perform at clubs around Edmonton.
The studio doubled its student base reaching over 80 students, now offering 3 Drop-Ins & 3 Competitive Classes. 3 new Instructors were added to the Team; Richard Andries, Sasha Cherkawsky, and O.J. Damaso.
It was also in this year where the Annual Benefit Concert Hip Hop for Hope was conceptualized and successfully launched. 
Created a youth outreach program for the Edmonton Public School board called SPLASH offering Dance Workshops and Professional Showcases. 3SB also traveled to Las Vegas to compete as a studio.
The student base was well over a 100 students, with 6 Drop-In & 5 Competitive Classes. With the addition of Curtis Ledger and Brittany Reinbold the 3SB Team now had 6 of Alberta’s Top Choreographers. 
3SB launches the first all street dance competition and soon to become nationally acclaimed: Artists Emerge. 
3SB tours across Spain and Morocco with their company class over the summer. Also wins at Vancouver’s Next Level all hip hop competition and officially is recognized as an all street styles dance studio.
The Hip Hop for Hope benefit concert series succeeds in raising over $100, 000 over the past 6 years. 3SB is invited to be the first Hip Hop entertainment company to tour across China on a professional dance tour in the summer of 2010. The original production “Hip Hop Saved My Life” is written for this tour, involving over 30 members of the 3SB faculty, student body & Edmonton dance community. The Youth Outreach Program “Splash” has succeeded in working with over 50 schools across Alberta. 3rd Street Beat Entertainment Inc is born. 
There are over 250 students and 20 classes running per week and 10 Instructors. The company is preparing to go on its first tour to China for a month performing the original production “Hip Hop Saved My Life”. 
3SB has over 12 instructors and is operating out of two dance studios across Edmonton offeri
ng over 25 competitive and drop in classes for all ages and levels in all styles of street dance. Represent Dance and the Street Dance Coalition are created in conjunction with 3SB.
3SB tours across the Mexican Riviera on Carnival Cruise Lines with the entire studio performing in their main theatre and selling out each show. 3SB crew comes in 2nd place in Montreal at the National Hip Hop Championships and comes in 13th place in the world at Hip Hop Internationals. 
The Real Street dance competition is created by 3SB which now completes the series of 3 all major street dance competitions in Edmonton.
3SB begins construction on their new 3SB Creative Youth Centre, home to 3sb studios and several other YEG performing arts companies across Alberta. YGB foundation is created to assist in community programming to reach out to thousands of new youth in the performing arts sector. 3SB crew comes in 1st place in Montreal at National Hip Hop Championships and gets ready to represent Canada in Vegas August 2014 for Hip Hop Internationals. 
3SB now has over 14 instructors and 40 competitive and recreational classes offered over 4 days and is hoping to reach over 400 students 
3SB will be expanding Artists Emerge to Calgary and Represent to Saskatoon to reach new borders. Hip Hop for Hope 9 will be coming back in July to re-unite dancers from all backgrounds representing the message of youth giving back to youth. Saskatoon instructor Amanda Murray and Vancouver choreographer Scott Forsyth are brought onto the 3SB faculty with all new classes making 3SB a national street dance studio bring together teachers from 3 separate provinces
