With Hip Hop there is always hope….and the hope was shining bright on July 10th for the 7th Annual Hip Hope for Hope Benefit concert.

Over 200 performers met on the Winspear stage to raise funds for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. The event was a huge success, thanks to the efforts of the many talented performers, directors, staff, volunteers, audience and enthusiastic parents.

We could not have put on such a tremendous show without your help! Ticket sales, photos and results will be coming soon!

Attention all performers! Please follow the schedule below for SATURDAY, JULY 10, 2010:

• 9AM:   Call time for all INTRO/FINALE dancers. Performer’s entrance (97 st) opens @ 9am. Please remember to pay for parking or you will be towed.
• 9:00-11:00am: Rehearsal of Intro/Finale in Rehearsal Hall.
• 11:00AM-12:30PM: Intro/Finale dancers only rehearse on stage
• 12:30-1:00PM:   Lunch (small snacks will be available, however we recommend you pack a lunch & dinner for the day)
• 1:00-4:30PM:   DRESS REHEARSAL: all performers – in costume – on stage ready to dance
• 4:30-6PM:  Dinner
• 6:00-7:00PM: Costume & Makeup
• 7:00PM: SHOW TIME!

Can we watch the show after we are done dancing?

Correction: YES…as long as you have a ticket! All intro/Finale dancers who sold their pre-required 5 tickets should have received a 6th free ticket which can be used by the performer. If you have not yet purchased a ticket, you may do so via the Winspear box office. Please sit in the seat that is reserved with your ticket. There are no pre-arranged sections or seats for just performers this year.

The Corporate Challenge: Battle of the Businesses took place this Thursday, June 3rd at The New York Club @ 6pm.

Local businesses spent the last month learning a hip hop routine with an instructor from 3SB. They competed against each other on stage, after having raised funds for the Hip Hop for Hope charity: The Stollery. Also  featuring special performances & a silent auction – proceeds going to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Congratulations to all 4 teams that danced their hearts out on stage: Westjet (Instructor: Richard Andries), Enterprise Rent-a-Car (Instructor: Harman Baweja), The Marriott Hotel (Instructor: Carlo Atienza) & Servus Credit Union (Instructor: Curtis Ledger). You made your industry proud and awed everyone with your enthusiasm and hidden talent!

The business who raised the most money in pledges was: Servus Credit Union

The business runner up for highest overall mark in the competition was: The Marriott Hotel.

Both teams will be performing once again at the opening of Hip Hop for Hope 7, July 10th @ The Winspear Centre. See you all there!
